Ephesians: The Gospel Empowered Walk

A Study through the Book of Ephesians: “Walking as Children of the One True King”

Duty: Walking As Responsible Followers of Christ – The Gospel Empowered Walk.

(Ephesians 3:14-21)

Paul’s life was empowered by the knowledge and internalization of Christ’s great love for him and by what Jesus had done for him.  Paul wanted everyone to experience and to walk in this great power daily.

Today as we continue our study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians we will see what it will take to live “The Gospel Empowered Walk”.

The Gospel Empowered Walk requires a humble reflection. (Ephesians 3:14-15)

We need to reflect on who we were before Christ.  (Ephesians 2:1-3; 3:14a)

We need to reflect on who we are because of Christ.  (Ephesians 3:14b-15)

The Gospel Empowered Walk requires heavenly resources.  (Ephesians 3:16)

We’ve been resourced with the storehouses of God’s riches. (Psalm 24:1; Ephesians 3:16a; Philippians 4:19)

We’ve been resourced with strengthening by the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 3:16b)

The Gospel Empowered Walk requires human responsibility.  (Ephesians 3:17-19)

We have a responsibility to live a life of faith.  (Ephesians 3:17a; Luke 6:46; James 2:17; Hebrews 11:1, 6)

We have a responsibility to live a life of love.  (Ephesians 3:17b-18; John 13:35)

We have a responsibility to live a life of surrender.  (Ephesians 3:19; John 3:30)

The Gospel Empowered Walk requires hope-filled reliance.  (Ephesians 3:20-21)

With hope we rely onthe power of God to use us.  (Ephesians 3:20; John 14:12)

With hope we rely on the purpose of God to use us.  (Ephesians 3:21)

The power behind “The Gospel Empowered Walk” is the church actively living out and working with the reality of who we are in full view.

We go around tapping the world on the shoulder begging for a dime, when our heavenly Father wants to give us everything that He is and everything that He has.

Why are we content to scrounge for crumbs when we’ve been invited into His banquet hall?  Why do we settle for the emptiness of this world, when He’s blessed us with the fullness of His grace?

Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.

Now go in love and power and walk the Gospel empowered walk every day of your life!
